- Hurricane Katrina Benefit Auction
- Davin — October 27th, 2005

From Christian Patterson’s blog
In response to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, an on-line fine art auction is being organized by Cheim & Read Gallery, Christian Patterson of the Eggleston Artistic Trust, and Livet Reichard Company, Inc. The auction will be on eBay, through the “eBay Giving Works” program, and no commissions or eBay fees will be charged in the sale of donated works.
One hundred percent of the proceeds will be distributed by PROJECT HEAL (Help Employ Artists Locally) of the Acadiana Arts Council. All funds raised will be designated to help New Orleans area artists and non-profit arts organizations in immediate need of financial assistance as a result of damages sustained from Hurricane Katrina.
The devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina to the New Orleans area has been catastrophic. The great attraction of New Orleans for tourists has always been its arts whether music, literature, architecture or the visual arts. In the aftermath of this tragedy, the infrastructure that sustained the visual arts has been completely shattered. This auction is an attempt to restore some of the support when it is most needed.
The auction is currently scheduled to begin on November 1, 2005 and end on November 11, 2005. To view and bid on art, go to eBay.com during these dates and search for “Project HEAL.”
Participating artists include:
Adam Bartos, Donald Baechler, Lynda Benglis, Michael Book, Jeff Brouws, William CHRISTENBERRY, Maude Schuyler Clay, Langdon Clay, Reuben Cox, Gregory CREWDSON, Bruce DAVIDSON, William EGGLESTON, Mitch EPSTEIN, Louise Fishman, Adam Fuss, Nan GOLDIN, William Greiner, Todd Hido, Jenny Holzer, Roni Horn, Bill Jensen, Lisa Kereszi, Opal Lagniappe, William Lamson, Margrit Lewczuk, David Maisel, McDermott & McGough, Lori Nix, Bill OWENS, Christian Patterson, Pamela Pecchio, Jack Pierson, Laura Plageman, Michael Schmelling, Cindy SHERMAN, Stephen SHORE, Keith Sonnier, Alec Soth, Mark Steinmetz, Pat Steir, Joel STERNFELD, Juergen Teller, Brian Ulrich, Garry WINOGRAND, and more. - Posted in Websites — Comment
